The Holidays - It's That Time of Year!

I love the holidays. The lights, the decorations, the food, the movies and music and most of all, the COLORS!

I like the traditional colors red, green, gold and I prefer to keep it simple. My tree is super simple - gold lights and traditional decorations. I love to make some of my decorations and even make gifts! Felted gnomes and snowmen, which I usually end up giving away. One year I made all my holiday cards. I painted different images using watercolor paint. So fun, but so time consuming! I’ve made tiny yarn hat beanies using toilet paper centers. They make fun little gifts and tree ornaments, and they are so easy and fun to make.

I love driving around the different neighborhoods to look at the lights! Where I live, the city puts up these large light displays along the river and it’s free to park and walk through. It’s such a fun holiday tradition. This year they even added a holiday market and horse drawn carriage rides on opening day! And they have a holiday parade that drives through our little downtown. So cool to watch the different floats our community made go by.

I can't forget the get togethers with the special people we love! I don't have a close family, but I have some great friends that do special get togethers. I look forward to these every year. Dirty santa, card games, special adult beverages, and funky holiday sweaters, hatsand lighted apparel!
